Tuesday Morning With Scott and Sandro

Scott’s word of the day for Sandro is “exceptional.” This video shows Sandro calmly standing in his crate. He had access to it last night and spend a good bit of time there. Today, they closed both the front and back gates for about 10 minutes and Sandro was perfectly calm the entire time. Rarely have we seen an elephant so at ease in the crate so quickly. He’s an impressive boy, that’s for sure!

It may be in his paperwork, but we don’t know it offhand. He’s definitely not a small guy!

Wow what an impressive boy. Hopefully when he has to be hoisted into the air he will stay as calm. Are you able to give a relaxer like we do for our dogs if needed? Say he’s in the air and it freaks him out so much he gets too tense for the trip? I pray he doesn’t but just curious, I would think it’d be for his safety.
Getting excited for him to be at Sanctuary.

we do have a variety of things we can give him to help calm him, ranging from natural to chemical, but elephants tend to do best when they are fully present. so although we have a bag with these things and other emergency drugs, they do really well without anything.
