Rana and Maia were both very sleepy this morning – they apparently had a busy night having a lot of fun and are often tired when we find them together in the mornings. A little bit after breakfast, the team
brought Rana over to the fence for her morning treatment. Maia was nearby, so she came along too, looking for treats.
Sleepy Maia is generally a happily compliant Maia. She walked over to Kat along the fence and immediately leaned into the bars. She stood very still and did everything Kat asked her to do. She wouldn’t move from any position until Kat asked her to shift her body. Then she would move her body the bare minimum, lean on the bars and be perfectly still again.
Kat was able to take her time and give Maia a very detailed tick check and bug spray application. Maia was delighted – she was pretty sure she was getting treats just for taking a standing nap. So she drifted in and out of naps as she drifted in and out of snacks. Kat joked that Maia would’ve stayed there for hours – or at least until treats ran out.
Once her morning check was over (& the pile of treats gone), Maia headed to the pond for a few hours.
What was sleepy Rana like for her morning treatment? We’ll tell you tomorrow in Part 2 of this post!
Photo Maia enjoying some watermelon (& yes, there will be a picture of Rana with watermelon for tomorrow’s post – these girls are living the watermelon life!)
