Filmmaker, photographer, and Santuario Equidad employee Fede Sordo joined our team on Pocha and Guillermina’s transport from Mendoza to Brazil, capturing some of the images and videos we’ve shown you over the past few weeks. A couple of nights before his return home, he captured this image of the night sky over the sanctuary. As we move deeper into the dry season, the sky will become clearer and more and more stars will become visible. It is still early and the sky has yet to come into full bloom. These moments observing the stars (while hearing Pocha and Guillermina vocalizing in the background), were a nice reminder to take a few brief moments to ourselves and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us each day. Thanks to Fede for his gifts and dedication to the work we do here at Global Sanctuary for Elephants.

June 4, 2022 at 7:06 pmStarry, Starry Night. Thank you Fede Sordo for capturing this beautiful, serene photo. I can imagine looking up into that sky with the shining diamonds for stars, and hearing the vocalizations of freedom from Pocha and Guillermina. Indeed, we all need a reminder to appreciate the beauty around us every single day.

June 4, 2022 at 11:36 pmSo very beautiful. Do elephants see colour, or just shades of grey?
Kat Blais says

June 6, 2022 at 1:00 amI live where I’m lucky to see 10 stars at night. I would walk around 1/2 the night if I had a view like that & the icing is hearing the girls!! Enjoy, you ALL deserve it !!
