The Pond, Some Palms, and a Bath

Maia

After spending the morning in the pond, Maia got out for a brief break to enjoy a snack pile that Kat left her – some palm fronds and a small amount of fruit. Kat was nearby cleaning a water trough along a fence, so Maia headed over for a drink of extra-fresh water.

Since Kat was cleaning the trough, the hose was out. Maia decided she wanted a bath and, using her body language, asked Kat for one. Kat soon found out that Maia didn’t want a standard shower.

Maia wanted the laziest version of a bath possible. She just stood there, facing Kat, and put her head down and her ears out. Maia stood perfectly still and let Kat spray the water over her back and back of her neck. She put forth no effort in moving her body to get the water to hit other places. Maia decided if she stood just so, enough of her would get wet that she wouldn’t have to do anything but stand there.

She stood there for a few minutes, half napping, and just soaked it up. After she felt like she had enough, she walked back over to her palm snack and remaining fruit to finish enjoying her snack.

Kat the Rain Machine! Can feel how good that felt, just letting it rinse off and wash over that pond water. Like back in school when we rinsed off under the shower after getting out of the pool. Hand shower before treats, beautifully thanks to Kat.

I think these elephants have some sort of power over the Sanctuary people and they take advantage of it. 🙂 We being able to read and see what is happening every day really is helping us all with this Virus problem, we know that something good is happening in the world. Thank you all so much, and everyone else who posts here. Love you all., Elephants. Carers and Supporters.

With all the trauma these lovely ladies have suffered in life, they deserve all the loving attention they now get. Thanks Kat and Scott and all at GSE for making such a profound difference in their lives.
