The Land of Many Rainbows

Maia, Guida and rainbows

Elephant Sanctuary Brazil is definitely the land of many rainbows. Although it seemed impossible to take a photo of, just before this, the rainbow was actually a triple rainbow, one seemingly folded on top of the other. The rainbows often seem to fall in the same place, over the East end of the Asian habitat.

The three ladies had spent all day hanging around the pond, napping in the shade trees, coating themselves in mud, and grazing. We’re not sure if anyone went for a swim, it was only 70 degrees (yes we say ‘only’) so they may not have. Cooler days are always good for an extra touch of silly and this day was no different. Easy breezy elephants.

Actually, rainbows always appear in the same direction direction, opposite where ever the sun is in the sky. 🙂 Whenever we have storm/rain clouds mixed with sun, I look for the rainbow in the same direction every time. I wonder if elephants can discern rainbows?
