For those who didn’t know of Guida before her arrival at the sanctuary, she was frail in appearance, about 1000 lbs underweight and spent 98% of her day stereotyping. This is Guida now. Maia is a bit of a tank, but Guida can hold her own. These girls don’t have to cross the streams, especially not during storms when the water level rises, but they genuinely seem to enjoy the challenge. There are also areas that are much easier to cross, we can do it with a four-wheeler, but they prefer to choose their own way.
We are trying to set up a motion camera at one of the places the girls like to cross. It is steep enough on the one side that the girls just often slide down and walk up. You can see when someone has gone down recently, by the rump slide trail it leaves. It would be fantastic to able to show and share just how agile and adventurous they are.
