Mauricio, the local red-footed tortoise, has been visiting the sanctuary more and more lately. He has a tendency to stop by for a little while, then wander away when he’s bored of the action. Recently, he spent a few hours near the workers at the male Asian habitat, and we joked that he was “supervising” the builders.
We caught him one afternoon mingling with the roosters, who seemed not to worry too much about his presence, although some seemed confused about the moving “rock”. We suspect that he was in search of snacks and, finding none, went on his way.
