As most of you know, elephants dust themselves for many reasons. The covering acts as a type of sunscreen, helps keep bugs at bay, and just feels good on their skin. For this Sunday Smile, we’re sharing a photo of Mara enjoying a nice dust bath in the afternoon.
This is a good reminder for each of you to wear sunscreen this season, keep your bug spray handy, and take some time for self care.

July 23, 2023 at 6:20 pmI remember how much she dusted when she came out of the transport crate and into the sanctuary. She seemed to turn red that day. What a smile in this picture!
