The GSE team is in Sorocaba Brazil at the zoo with Sandro. The crate arrived a couple of days ago, but a lot was needed to get it set up properly, given the limitations of his space and that making it necessary to give him access to the outside of the crate.
Sandro is doing very well. He went in the crate within minutes of having access. We have 3 cameras on his crate and another 3 cameras to watch the area around him. After everyone left last night, he was in his crate repeatedly, nice and relaxed.
Scott talks about the protests going on that limit their ability to do certain things, but most of Sandro’s caregivers have been very helpful and open to the process.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.

September 13, 2026 at 8:27 pmI honestly can’t believe people who think Sandro would be better off by staying at the zoo! it’s heartbreaking to know that he spends 16 hours a day in that small enclosure, that is only three times bigger than the transport crate 😔poor beautiful Sandro, what you have endured! I can’t wait to see him in your Sanctuary, he so deserves to be free, sending the Team positive vibes and a heartfelt thank you! 🙌❤️ and please take care!

September 14, 2026 at 3:15 pmMay angels surround you all and Sandro and may understanding prevail. Clearly folks are passionate, so may that passion be refocused into purpose. Open, loving hearts are welcome here in this community so maybe minds will shift and we’ll have new supporters. Blessings to all! 🦣🦋

September 14, 2026 at 3:18 pmIt will be very interesting to have a male elephant presence at the sanctuary. Looking forward to being educated on the differences between males and females.
