Sunday Smile: A Stroll in the Rain

This week’s Sunday Smile is inspired by a leisurely walk in the rain by Rana, Mara, and Bambi. You can see how tall and lush the greenery is all around. That’s a wonderful sign that the rain is doing its job and making the grass perfect for grazing all season long.

You might notice that all three elephants are sniffing the air. There’s no way to tell what they are sensing. Sometimes the girls may be smelling another elephant’s presence. We’ve seen Lady seem to do that when she moves to a new yard where the other girls have recently been roaming. Perhaps there’s a wild animal around and its smell is getting stirred up by the rain. They could even be looking for some humans with food to share. No matter what reason, they are all smelling something together on their stroll.

yes, it’s usually in the 80s right now and lovely. our temperatures are warm year round. only gets down into the 50s as a low a handful of times a year. it’s how the elephants are able to stay outside 365 days a year, day and night. ❤️

How lovely seeing elephants enjoying being elephants. I choose to think they are smelling nature; the rain soaked earth and grass and trees. The sweet smell of freedom!
