Bambi is continuing to improve each day. Although there does seem to be a morning energy drop, it’s now not that different than what all of the ladies, except Guille, feel each day after breakfast. She is still not 100%, but we are pleased with her progress.
The PPG left the small yards shortly after dinner last night and spent the night in yard 5. Tina saw them on the camera at 6 am having a mini party before returning back into yard 1 around 7. Guille and Maia returned by the back of yard 2 and spent some time with Bambi at the square. Rana and Mara were shifted so that Bambi could have time to eat at whatever pace she needed. Bambi drank and ate well this morning, even eating part of her grain diet, which hasn’t been interested in. She is still thoroughly enjoying her bamboo, which Panto and Shirlei went to cut more of this morning. After Bambi ate breakfast and took a quick mud bath, she returned back to her favorite resting spot, Itchy Scratchy Tree, for an hour’s nap.
One of the most positive things of the morning was Bambi defecated, and her dung looked 90% normal. She, Rana, and Mara have been lazily grazing on short grass with little rumble parties that seem to happen out of nowhere. We will continue to adjust her treatment with the shifts in how she feels, but we are feeling positive about how she seems, both physically and emotionally.
We’ll try to post an evening update in the comments again tonight. We may be opening up so all of the girls can be together depending on where they are or what they seem to want. This video is actually from dinner yesterday when we were graced with a short rainstorm. It was from shortly after the PPG came back together.

November 19, 2023 at 8:15 pmBambi continued to do well today with a good appetite and energy. Guille coming to join the PPG added some excitement to the afternoon and was cause for more rumble and trumpet parties. It’s 9 pm here and Bambi, Mara, and Rana are in yard 5 tonight, with access to 1 & 2 should Bambi want to return closer to the barn. We are having another small rain storm, so tomorrow should be cooler and the elephants lighter. 💜

November 20, 2023 at 9:11 amOh my. I missed a few postings….I did not know BAMBI WAS ABIT ILL. IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE WAS CONSTIPATED AND POOR SWEETS IN PAIN. NOT EATING HER GRAIN. KAT DO U DEWORM THE LADIES WITH THE SRINGE TYPE PASTE THAT IS USED FOR HORSES?? I WONDER IF THEY GET WORMS LIKE COWS, HORSES. SHEEP ETC. I ASSUME THEY COULD AS LADIES ARE FORAGERS OF HAY. GRASSES, FRUITS. HORSES ONLY EAT APPLES AND CARROTS. I HOPE U WONT GO THRU A YEAR LIKE POOR DEAR MARA HAD SUCH A BAD DIGESTIVE ISSUE. 💝BEST WISHES TO BAMBIS 🐘RECOVERY🙏🏻🙏🏻
