Grass hay is better suited to an Asian elephant’s GI systems, than alfalfa, and the protein levels are optimal. Although the elephants receive most of their nutrition from nature, hay supplementation is a must for our underweight and new arrivals. It assists with weight gain and also allows elephants to transition more easily to a natural diet. Ongoing Need.
