We often joke that when the elephants at sanctuary hear the 4-wheeler coming near, they get as excited as a child when they hear the ice cream truck: they know there’s a chance that goodies might be on the way.
Rana, Bambi, and Mara have been spending time in Yard 5, so they have been coming back near the barn around dinner time. In this instance, both Rana and Bambi wanted to double check that there were no extra treats to be found and Rana gives you a good look at her nose. Mara eventually breaks up the “nosy” behavior by walking between Rana and Bambi toward the fence.

March 1, 2022 at 10:52 pmThat was pretty fun to watch! Have you ever thought about renaming the ” yards” to something fun or catchy too? Ie: The Itchy scratchy tree space, Mud flat alley…you know, descriptive fun names for each ” yard”…even space sounds more sanctuary like…just my thought.

March 1, 2022 at 11:02 pmIt’s always possible. But at this point, Yards 1, etc. makes things easier for our caregivers. Sometimes practical is more useful than fun. 😉
