A few days ago we had some technicians who needed to drive throughout the property with Scott to work. They were on the way to the male barn when they ran into a little roadblock. That morning, Rana decided that she wanted to head into the male yard. Typical of Rana, she stopped for several minutes to eat some palms. The internal dirt road that leads to the bottom of the property is only open when the corridor to the male yard is fully closed, so Rana was essentially stopping traffic.
Because we allow the elephants to do things on their own time and in their own ways, the team of workers had to take an alternative route all the way around what will eventually be the south portion of the male habitat, through the grass – to get to the other side. Rana’s autonomy may have caused a slight delay, but she is always entitled to her time and to her palms.

July 10, 2023 at 2:21 pmOh Sweet Rana and her Love🌴 of Palms.🌴 Well yes, Rana didnt need to move off right away for the 4wheeler ppl. She was just leisurely eating not thinking she blocked traffic. I think the workers came along at the wrong time🙂
