Last night Mara and Rana had dinner in the big pasture next to the pond. It’s charming to watch the two of them together, although sometimes challenging to get them to go anywhere fast. They will follow quickly at times, but other times they take two steps, touch each other, take two more steps, squeak and rumble and touch, and so on. Mara seemed very pleased at their dinner location and was looking and touching all around, while Rana casually at her dinner not tremendously impressed by her ‘normal’ surroundings.
Although they are next to the pond, it has cooled off here significantly. About 4 or 5 times a year, the temperature drops into the 60s during the day. This is one of those times. For the next few days, we don’t expect any of the girls to be too interested in swimming, but it will warm up soon enough. This afternoon Maia, Mara, and Rana have access to both of the big yards while Lady is in 1, 2, and 3. Everyone is grazing in the little forested areas, taking advantage of nature’s wind blocks.
