Rana and Mara Enjoy the Pond

We’ve actually had some cooler temperatures here for a few days and nights. There was cloud cover for one entire day, so we saw the elephants being more active. During cooler daytime hours, they walk a little further, spend more time in the trees, and don’t swim in the pond as often as they do on hot afternoons.

The next day, the sun and heat were back in full force, and several times we caught sight of Mara and Rana hanging out. They’d be half dozing, tossing mud here and there, and scratching the occasional itch. The two enjoyed quite a bit of time together in the pond, knee deep in water and relaxing. All in all, it sounds like a peaceful way to spend a morning with friends.
