As we mentioned yesterday, Rana showed interest in going into the male Asian yard where Lady is currently spending time. The two of them have a positive relationship that goes back many years and they appear to have trust between them. Rana has always respected Lady’s “bubble” of safety that she requires, which is likely why Lady seems not to mind having Rana around. In this instance, Rana got closer to Lady than she has in quite a long time. She calmly watched and ate grass – and Lady didn’t seem to get nervous and she didn’t walk away from Rana.
We didn’t want to get too close and interrupt the moment, but we did manage to snap a photo from afar. You can see Lady in the back, with Rana standing near a palm tree keeping an eye on things.
P.S.: Don’t miss today’s Global Rumblings podcast, which continues the story of Maia and Guida as they settle into sanctuary life.

July 11, 2023 at 2:50 pmIt’s wonderful that Lady is learning to trust! Healing takes awhile, but given the ideal conditions (e.g. GSE) it can happen!

July 11, 2023 at 4:00 pmIt’s hard to say, but it likely has something to do with her feeling vulnerable about her feet. She may not want to be in a situation where she can’t get away from the others if she wants to. She also has a very troubled past that may contribute.

July 11, 2023 at 11:19 pmThank you for taking the time each day for photos or videos along with these updates. I know, for me, I sort through many emails daily. I save and open global elephants email when I have a quiet, focused moment. I look forward to ending my day with this daily gift!
I also look forward to being with you on the journey, the birth, and the life of each precious girl at sanctuary through your podcasts with Nadia!
I also appreciate, lately, not have to match up bicycles, or traffic lights to show I’m not a robot! Lol
