This is Ramba (not Rana), in Chile. If you don’t know her, (you should, she’s amazingly lovely) you can read about her on her page (link below). Those who do know her, nothing new with CITES permits.
Today Ramba took a mud bath and in the middle, decided she could use a little nap as well. Cheesy grin and all. Caro and Consu (her caregivers) are continuing with her foot abscess soaks and treatments, and she is doing well. Ramba seems much more comfortable, is walking better and is relaxed when the area is touched.
For those who may not know, Caro is a veterinarian, but since elephant feet are very particular, there are numerous individuals involved with her care. Along with our daily updates, Caro and Consu are sending pre and post soak, footwork and medication photos. We are consulting with Dr. Gohain, who will hopefully be accompanying us on Ramba’s rescue, in regards to her abscess treatment as well. At this point, it all looks like it is headed in the right direction.
