Some mornings are just a delight, for humans and elephants. During our breakfast check-in with the girls, we met them at a rainy moment. Rana, Mara, and Bambi were cheerfully muddy and soaked. (The humans were happy for the rain, but not quite as elated to be drenching wet.) As often happens on a soggy day, the elephants were very silly and filled with trumpets, rumbles, and – as you can hear from Mara – squeaks. Meetings like this one are a wonderful way to start the day, filling you with joy and reminders of why we do what we do.

November 1, 2022 at 6:52 pmThis is the girl that does not like water? I remember how her skin looked when she arrived at GSE, and how it was said she did not like water at the zoo. A transformation from the frightened, timid elephant standing in the back of the dimly lit shed at the zoo. Thank you GSE.πβ€οΈ

November 1, 2022 at 7:01 pmIs it Mara or Bambi that loves the camera? Iβve seen here come straight to the camera many times. I think she knows youβre taking her picture. I just love them so much. Ty for sharing. Which elephant is the one with the bad right eye, Mara? I like to tell you thank you for giving your time to these beautiful beings. IfI were younger and better health that is what I would want to do. Can you tell me if the monthly money I donate to Guile (spelling?) and Pocha is still just going towards her needs? Of course I want it to, or whoever/ wherever you really need it. I think Iβm going to be adopting another soon. I told my husband that is what I want for Christmas so we are hoping to spread it to your place and the few I follow in Thailand.

November 1, 2022 at 7:15 pmHonestly, Rana is the one who seems to like the camera most – though all three of them can be camera hogs when they want to be. Bambi is blind in one eye, but it never seems to stop her at all. And, yes, your adoption of Pocha and Guillermina is being dedicated entirely toward Guille now. Thank you for your generosity!

Sara says
November 1, 2022 at 7:17 pmThe rubbing noises are their trunks brushing up against the habitat fence. All of the other noises they are making are just showing their contentment.
