This piece was originally scheduled to publish before Pocha’s passing. In her honor, we decided to keep the post, as it gives you a glimpse of her peaceful nature and her soulful eyes:
Sometimes rain brings a silliness to the elephants and other times it provides an atmosphere of calm relaxation. This was one of those more low-key afternoons. Mara, Bambi, and Pocha were enjoying a few moments of quiet, as the rainfall brought peaceful sounds to the sanctuary.
Like Rana, Pocha is an elephant who embraces human contact when she’s in the right mood. After stopping at the water trough for a drink, she walked over to give Scott a quick hello and a peek at her gorgeous eyes. Mara and Bambi seem unfazed by Scott’s presence, choosing instead to graze and soak in the afternoon shower.

October 9, 2022 at 2:15 pmI have waited till now to post about Pocha because I was upset to say the least. When I saw the alert on my iphone I said “Oh no” out loud. But in thinking about her and GSE Brazil I was grateful that you could give her a place to pass that was not a concrete pit. She enjoyed what most elephants do if only for a short time. I knew that there was a danger she might pass before you could effect her rescue. I held my breath untill Scott let us know she was home. My condolences to you all there at Sanctuary it is never easy as I know from experience.
RIP Pocha you are loved

October 9, 2022 at 3:15 pmWhen first introduced to Mama Pocha, her eyes made me think of Guida. Something about them made me feel she was an old soul, like I felt when looking into Guida’s eyes. Wishing peace upon her up in Ele-Heaven with Guida and Ramba. Thank you for posting the video, such a beauty. ❤️🐘❤️

October 9, 2022 at 4:01 pmYes her eyes are just so beautiful you wonder what she is thinking as you deeply gaze into them. So happy Pocha went out of her way to acknowledge Scott with a quick hi there and a wink of those gorgeous brown eyes of hers gifting him with that special shared moment letting him know in her own special way thank you for saving us I will never forget you for that 💞

October 9, 2022 at 4:03 pmBlessed girl. Knowing now that her departure was near when this was filmed, it seems she was taking a moment to connect with Scott and to say thank you … Thank you for posting this. I always love these close-ups, and being able to look into Pocha’s eyes again is a gift.

October 9, 2022 at 5:15 pmHermosa, amada y valiente Pocha. Te amo y te amare. Me preguntan algunos.. por que este vínculo, por que este amor, está sensación? No sé explicar.

October 9, 2022 at 5:46 pmBeloved Pocha, your eyes reflected your great soul. You were an elephant angel on earth, and you have joined the elephant angels in heaven. You waited through so much until you knew your beautiful daughter would be okay. Thank you for staying with us as long as you did.

October 9, 2022 at 6:45 pmI am wondered the timing of the video with Bambi and Guillermina getting silly in the mud, and this video, and Pocha’s passing. Were they all in the same day?
