Rainy Day Lady in the Male Asian Yard

Because the rainy season gave us the opportunity to do more construction in a safe manner, our workers have been able to complete the second yard of the male Asian habitat. Lady always seems to have some enjoyable moments there, so we checked to see if she was interested in crossing over into the male yards, which she was. Given the current state of her left leg and foot, she got there relatively quickly.

Instances like this are a good opportunity for Lady to have a change of scenery; individuals who have experienced trauma, especially in the way that Lady has lately, can sometimes get emotionally “stuck,” so a trip to a different space gives her new places to explore and sensory stimulation.

One of our caregivers, Tina, checked on Lady in the afternoon and she seemed to be walking as well as possible, having crossed from the entrance to the other side of the yard during the day. She had her foot treatments, but was still very keen on eating as much grass as possible. Overall, she seemed in good spirits and appeared pleased with her afternoon and a fresh perspective.

Here, you can see Lady standing in the male Asian yard as the rain starts. You can hear some thunder in the background – and Lady is delighted.

What a lovely lot of tall grass. She seems to be sniffing the air for expected rain and I’m sure she was very stimulated by her new pasture.

She’s not letting hideous pain get her down, is she? Spunkier than I expected and enjoying her grass!
