Preparations for Ramba’s Mandatory Quarantine

Ramba

Shhhh. Ramba is in her yard at the zoo in Chile sleeping in the sun while we all work to get her to Elephant Sanctuary Brazil.  Ramba does also sleep lying down, but during the day, she naps standing up.

Today was all about Ramba’s mandatory 30-day quarantine before her travels to Brazil. It will take place in her current habitat in Chile. Although her quarantine protocol was written, re-written, and approved last year by agricultural authorities in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, now that Ramba’s quarantine is just around the corner, there are a million questions.

The good thing is that with all of the nonsense that goes on, Ramba remains calm and well, being cared for by those who adore her. We have been preparing Ramba’s caregivers for this for some time, and they have worked with Ramba on training for the testing and the behaviors needed. So while things around us may be a bit chaotic, Ramba and those in her immediate orbit are all good.

There is still time to give to Ramba’s fundraiser to bring her to the sanctuary.  Her fundraiser is currently at 73%, almost 3/4 of the way there. Each day Ramba gets a little closer to being part of a herd and having the home she has always deserved. Thank you to everyone for giving and sharing.
