When Bambi first arrived at sanctuary, with all of her exuberance and readiness to learn about everything new, we discovered that our resident speed walker, Maia, was being quickly outpaced by the new elephant. Bambi continues to power through hills and hustle through the habitat (even losing track of where her friends are occasionally).
Here, Bambi has seen the 4-wheeler drive up to the yard to drop snacks for everyone. She is always ready for a bite, and you can see her move quickly to the spot where the food was placed. She gets right down to business with her snacks and we would expect nothing less.

April 12, 2022 at 2:21 pmLiving your best life Miss Bambi is a joy to observe. It’s the difference between night and day compared
to where you came from. Thank you to GSE and your supporters around the world. We love you.

April 12, 2022 at 3:51 pmSometimes I move very quickly to the refrigerator, also. I like to think Babi and I are kindred spirits. Nothing wrong with a snack attack……

April 12, 2022 at 6:13 pmI love wondering what kind of “joy” she must get from her current life compared to before. I guess that goes for all the other girls, but I first got to know GSE when you were readying Bambi for departure from the zoo, so I was well acquainted with her life then.

April 13, 2022 at 12:14 amDoes Bambi have kidney issues? I feel like that was maybe a concern when she first arrived but I can’t remember if it was ever mentioned again or if her health issues in general have resolved.
Sara says
April 13, 2022 at 10:12 amWe were initially concerned that might be the case, but she’s a healthy girl now. We do keep an eye on things, but so far, a natural life has healed so much.
