This eleven-minute documentary on Ramba was recently released by Estilo Animal, and we wanted to share. Here is the link – https://youtu.be/rQB8to9BdpI
The video is in Spanish, but there are English subtitles. If the subtitles don’t appear automatically, you can select the “CC” in the upper corner of the video.
For those who started following us after Ramba passed away, Ramba was, in many ways, the inspiration for creating an elephant sanctuary in South America. She needed somewhere to go, and we built a home for her – and any other elephant in South America. Ramba was the last circus elephant in Chile, and her rescue took years due to delays in permits and needing to essentially create the import requirements. You can learn a little about her on our website here – https://globalelephants.org/ramba2/
Ramba was loved by all who knew her and all who knew of her. She was a very, very special elephant.

January 19, 2021 at 4:36 pmWOW!!!! Great documentary, it brought tears to my eyes……I would encourage the producers to enter this film in the One Earth Film Festival in Chicago Illinois , USA for next year, 2022, as the festival is starting in late February or March……. This film festival is about nature, the environment around us, saving the planet from pollution, etc… it last 2-3 weeks, with dozens of movie showings of documentaries about Climate Change, or recycling, the state of OUR oceans, etc..so films which show the best of man working with animals should be well received.,….The movies are shown in Chicago and nearby suburbs……..

January 19, 2021 at 4:55 pmSuch a sad video! Just wish people around the world could watch this. What right do humans have to take babies away from their moms! For their greed, for their own enjoyment!?? Loved Ramba! She was such a beautiful creature! That had her life taken away as a baby! How frightening, how sad! RIP RAMBA, ?♥️

January 19, 2021 at 6:44 pmThank you for sharing, much thanks to Estilo Animal, Consuelo and Caro for your love and care for so long before Ramba was relocated to sanctuary. I am so grateful to you, I am so sorry that Ramba is no longer with us in this world, but she had months of elephant company, and forest to roam in at the end. Bless you all.

January 19, 2021 at 11:28 pmOh Ramba! Damnit, now I’m crying again! A great video – so wonderful that Consuelo and Caro were able to find it in their hearts to “let go”, for Ramba’s sake.
Ramba’s very existence created the idea for GSE, and she finally made it there, after the nearly insurmountable trials and tribulations…and she is still there – her soul infusing every tree (especially the itchy-scratchy tree), and her spirit IS the Sanctuary, providing comfort to all the animals (including the human ones, especially Scott & Kat), everyday. ❤️ R. I. P., dear Ramba!

January 20, 2021 at 1:28 amSweet Ramba. I’m glad she was able to experience what it’s like to be able to roam freely and have elephant friends if even for a short time. When will humans ever give up their selfishness to think they have the right to use and abuse animals for profits? RIP, Ramba. We will never forget you. ❤️

January 20, 2021 at 5:19 amA beautiful tribute to our dear Ramba which made me cry. I wish she could have had more time at ESB but animals live in the moment so each minute would have been relished with her new sister Rana by her side.
I wear my Ramba Effect T-shirt and Hoodie with pride and will never forget this precious girl.
Ramba you are loved!

January 20, 2021 at 11:29 pmThank you, Ramba, for being you. I knew nothing about the lives of elephants in captivity, then I found a story about Ramba years ago and that story lead to one about the quest to create a sanctuary for elephants in South America. I learned a lot about elephants and humans following along as the sanctuary went from an idea to a reality. Wondering , hoping, praying for Ramba’s turn. So much frustration. Cheering for Maia and Guida. Joy for Rana. Worry as each winter came with Ramba still in Chili. When she finally made it home I cried from the joy of it. When she started exploring and didn’t stop I cheered. She packed so much living and such delight into every moment. I was so happy she got to learn about autonomy and companionship. Friendship. About being respected and being an elephant. About being Ramba. It was glorious to see! Her death would have been much sadder if she hadn’t had those few weeks in Brazil. Mud baths and hay hats. My life is far richer because of Ramba and I will never forget her.
I am very grateful for everyone who comes together to give the gift of sanctuary to these magnificent beings. From the experts to all the little people like myself giving what we can.

March 27, 2021 at 12:30 pmHeart wrenchingly beautiful, her gift to us all, to wake us out of our ignorance. To Scott and Kat who answered that call, to create the space, to allow her to Be, to witness how she must have sensed this would be her final separation destination, how Rana stood over her in the pond, finding trust in her sisters so she could at last safely lay down, rest in lush green grass under the cool shade of a real tree, Mom there to catch her, reunited at last.
