VOLUME UP! Bambi, Maia, and Guillermina spent the evening in one of their favorite spots in Yard 5. Before breakfast, we encouraged them to move into Yard 1, closer to the barn, so that caregivers could give Yard 5 a good cleaning. (Yes, caregiving means a lot of poop pick-up!) Sometimes, shifting them when they’ve been in one place overnight means their energy is a little bit low, but these three girls decided they were going to greet the day with more enthusiasm than expected.
While she was once among the speediest elephants at the sanctuary, these days Bambi isn’t necessarily the one in the lead. But on this morning she had some extra pep in her step, making it to the fence in Yard 1 before the other two elephants. The plan was to feed them there in Yard 1 and give them some brief check-ups before they go on their way, but the ladies first wanted to make a little noise, vocalizing with short trumpets, a few rumbles, and a couple of squeaks for good measure. The three of them started the day on a high note, and the mood apparently stuck around, as we found the three of them stuck together like glue all afternoon.
P.S.: Bambi is the first elephant you see in the video, followed by Guille and then Maia. Maia is the girl who stays closest to the camera for most of the video.

Help take extra special care of an elephant that is close to your heart.
