Scott and the team are at the Sorocaba Zoo preparing Sandro for his move to the sanctuary. The crate is in place and Sandro is getting more comfortable with it. For this relocation, we need a different, larger crane to be able to load Sandro and his crate onto the truck for the drive home.

September 14, 2026 at 8:38 pmSandro is doing a little quality control, to see if his ride is up to his standards.😊 I am praying for a safe departure and trip for you all.

September 14, 2026 at 8:46 pmWow, he is a big boy! Is his trunk exceptionally long? He seems so tall he barely gets into that crate. It’s so good that he’s so willing to go in it so quickly hopefully he’ll be that fast coming out of it once he gets to the Sanctuary. But he’ll always be alone there too until you guys get another male correct? I guess I have to remember. I’m thinking as a human and what I have learned is that the males tend to be on their own out in the wild. Isn’t that correct? So exciting. I’m looking forward to the trip. Thanks you guys.

September 14, 2026 at 10:25 pmHe will have the male Asian habitat to himself though, as you remember with Baby, they will all be able to see each other if they’re in the right spots. And males do tend to be more solitary (though they can form bachelor herds).

September 14, 2026 at 9:56 pmAm I the only one who feels like the sanctuary is helping me keep some sanity in a crazy world?

September 15, 2026 at 8:14 amNope, you are not the only one.
The daily email from the sanctuary it´s what I enjoy the most. Those few minutes I spent reading it´s like breathing fresh air.
Please GSL, never stop sending the news by email 😊 (I´m so tired of social media)

September 14, 2026 at 11:59 pmSara did I hear Scott correctly their going to have to swing the crate over those trees also how is Sandros health
Sara says
September 15, 2026 at 9:48 amYes, you are correct. It’s going to be a huge undertaking, but Sandro is worth it. Sandro isn’t in the best of health. We don’t have as much information as we’d like, but we will be doing some tests soon.
