We would like to introduce you to Rana (pronounced Ha-na). She is a lovely grandma that lives alone on the coast of Brazil and will be our next resident at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. Yay!! Congratulations!!
Rana was a circus elephant for over four decades and then in a story somewhat familiar to Brazil, was confiscated with nowhere to go. A hotel offered to take her in and that is where she currently resides. The hotel zoo adores her, but they also know that love is not enough to give Rana the life or happiness that she needs and deserves.
Because Rana lives within Brazil, CITES permits are not required, meaning her rescue can be underway in several weeks, but we need your help to make that happen. You can go to her page to read her story and give towards her rescue.
We will share more about Rana over the next few weeks, but we couldn’t wait to share the happy news that Maia and Guida will soon have their chance at being big sisters and helping another elephant transition to sanctuary life. We are overjoyed with the opportunity to bring another elephant home to sanctuary. We hope you will join us in the celebration.
