Mara enjoyed her first dip in the mud wallow!
We arrived to drop off dinner to Rana and Mara last night and found the two elephants between the pond and the mud wallow in Yard 4. Mara looked pleased with herself. Half her face and much of her body had huge chunks of mud stuck to it.
Rana was standing next to her but did not have any mud on her body. Kat joked that Rana must’ve just been standing there for moral support during Mara’s Mud Party of One.
With such a vast space, we don’t always know everything each elephant does each day, but we can pretty much always tell when it’s a mud wallow day because the evidence is…thick and muddy.

Beautiful Mara, you’ve grown so much in such a short time! You are so brave and I love that Rana is helping you on your journey, but you are learning new things on your own! The words “thank you” sound hollow for how I want to extend my deep gratitude to Scott, Kat and the entire GSE team. With love from an Ele-Guardian of the four!

It is so amazing how well Mara is doing. You can tell how happy she is by the look on her face. So well deserved sweet Mara.
