After a nice rain, the mud wallows are squishy and fresh and you will see almost all of the elephants spraying themselves, getting good and dirty. The girls enjoy both the rain and its after effects. You can see here that Mara is with Guillermina and Bambi, all enjoying a giant mud puddle.
Mara is wet, so you can tell that, at some point, she was in the same mud wallow as Guille and Bambi – all three of them at once. The wonderful thing about mud is that it brings everyone together. As Mara walks away, Guille and Bambi get all the way into the giant puddle, rubbing sides for a little extra exfoliation and also some play time.

November 4, 2023 at 6:54 pmI’m glad I watched to the end – the little butt bump (ok, not so little) was the perfect ending. Love these videos. They are like a cool breeze.

November 5, 2023 at 4:35 amAnother great example of how relaxed they are around each other and very much their own persons. Guille and Bambi make me laugh and delight in their closeness. Thank you!

November 5, 2023 at 4:41 amPS It’s hard to think about how they lived being unable to do such fundamental things in their previous (zoo) existence… so wrong

November 5, 2023 at 1:13 pmyes, it’s hard to imagine them as anything else than what they are here, but also hard to think about how many decades they have been denied of so many of their basic needs.
