Maia’s Responses to Guille’s Behavior

Guillermina brings with her a playful attitude. Her exuberance could be because of her youth – or it could simply be a part of her personality. We will learn more as she gets older and settles in with the other elephants over time. 

At times, her energy may cause some to be drawn to her, like Bambi or Maia, or it might seem too much for others, like Lady, Mara, or Rana. Regardless, it’s all part of who she is and, as long as what she does remains in the spirit of play, she can usually find someone to take her up on a hang out. 

Maia and Guille will get into some good-natured bouts of teasing on occasion. Maia might be posturing a little bit and then Guille will make some silly noises, as she once did with her mother. However, Maia doesn’t respond the way that Pocha did, letting Guille get her way simply because she’s being cute. Still, you can tell that Maia seems to like this type of play; she gets a cheeky smile, all while keeping a determined watch over Guille that keeps her from getting overly spirited. It’s charming to see the two of them playing and being a little mischievous. It’s obvious that both enjoy the other’s company on a near-daily basis.

    It’s nice to see Maia with a daily companion who matches up well with her big personality. Everything works out in the end! If it’s not worked out yet, it is because it is not yet the end. P.S. I didn’t write that!

    VERY COOL NEWS THAT GUILLIE IS FUNNING AROUND WITH MAIA AND MAIA ENJOYS MOST OF IT. IM NOT SURPRISED. BAMBI WOULD ALSO AS SHE HAD A VERY PLAYFUL PUPPY NATURE FOR SOME TIME. AND ACTUALLY TRIED TO PLAY WITH MAIA ABIT BUT MAIA DIDNT LIKE SOME
    ACTIONS. I REALLY HOPE MAIA AND BAMBI ALLOW MAIA TO GET SILLY WITH THEM OFTEN, HOPE WE GET VIDEOS . 😊

    Guille sure has a hairy head as well! I thought that came later in life? Or does it just depend upon the ele?

      it’s usually related to the part of Asia that they originate from. although, many younger elephants are fairly hairy and then grow grandma hair when they are over 50 in all those cute places like ears and chins. 😂
