Maia Touches Ramba

So….the video is in slow motion. The reason being that while all of us were cleaning the barn and doing prep work, Cassius (who is filming Ramba’s story) happened to be filming something else when Ramba and Maia met up at the gate. And it happened quickly so he was the only one to get it on film, but his camera was recording in slow mo.

Unlike Rana, Maia wasn’t hesitant to reach right out and touch Ramba. It was somewhat funny because Ramba seemed a little surprised that there was no feeling things out and Maia just went for it. The entire interaction only lasted about a minute before Ramba walked away and went back into the third yard- which seems to be her favorite so far.

Ramba continues to do well and looks more and more like she has been at the sanctuary for years. She’s now a nice shade of red, after all of her mud baths and dusting. She is learning that the four wheeler is the food truck and now follows when she sees it is loaded up. Her and Rana continue to share space and do their little trunk touching dance, although many other parts of their body have touched at this point. It’s all quite sweet and going very well.

What a very special tender moment! I’m so happy things are going great, super excited to see Maia investigating Ramba! Will be anxiously waiting to finally see all three adorable Elephants together as one happy happy family! Thanks for sharing these videos its the coolest ever to be able to witness these new and ever changing milestones!

Slo-mo quite wonderful, to see how very gentle Maia, appears to barely brush Ramba’s eye, so sweet.

WOW!?! EXCELLENT!‼️ THAT LIL ?MZ MAIA SURE HAS AN EXTRAVERT NATURE! VERY NICE SHE GREETED ??RAMBA! IT TOOK MANY DAYS BUT I GUESS SHE COULDNT HOLD BACK ANY MORE! NOW WE WILL HAVE TO SEE IF THEY GET FRIENDLIER IN DAYS TO COME AND IF MAIA TAKES RAMBA TO THE SWIMMING POND????‼️

I wonder if Maia will be the one to bring down Ramba’s defences. Maia seemed very excited and engaged. Ramba’s tail was sticking out before she pulled away. Loved every minute!

Now that the touch has happened, we can expect more between these two. Its the little things that are most exciting. Cant wait until they are walking to the different areas together.
