To encourage Lady to explore during the evening hours, we leave small piles of food for her in her yards. Lady is decent at finding her hidden treasures, but she doesn’t follow her nose quite as well as the other girls and often misses a couple.
Maia (who does not get piles of food at night) recently discovered this. Lady was in Yard 2, and Rana was dozing under a tree in Yard 1. Maia came by after a swim and went on a mission in Yard 1. She was using her dedication to and adoration of food to scope around and find every morsel Lady had missed the night before. Maia found a small, untouched pile of hay that had a big chunk of watermelon on it, much to her delight.
Meanwhile, Lady was standing on a high point of Yard 2 – at the end of a four-wheeler path that goes from 1 to 2. It provided a small overlook where she could see everything happening in Yard 1 – which was Maia on a food mission and Rana snoozing. Lady seemed to enjoy her morning elephant entertainment. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to piece together that Maia’s big juicy watermelon chunk was initially left for her.

My virtual visit to ESB each day brings me such peace, serenity, some fun and lots of smiles during this very stressful time for us all. XXXXXXXXXX
