Maia and Bambi Relax Under the Trees

There is seemingly no end to the joy that Maia and Bambi bring to sanctuary life these days. Not only do the two elephants clearly enjoy spending time together, but they eat meals together, roam together, and make plenty of vocalizations.

In this video, Maia (L) and Bambi (R) have found a spot of shade to enjoy some leftover hay from breakfast. Maia often uses her trunk to touch or hug Bambi’s face, and here she’s gently putting her nose up to Bambi’s healing face wound, which she got when she was down on the ground for a few hours. It almost seems as if Maia wants to be able to feel Bambi nearby. There’s no doubt that there’s an authentic love between the two of them.

It’s beautiful to see the lovely connection between them. They obviously love each other. Maia is so attentive towards Bambi.

That is amazing , the prolonged tender touch to the face wound – – so loving & intimate that it seems intrusive to be watching .

What a beautiful friendship! Is there any updates on new elephants coming to sanctuary? Is there any chance Maison (Bambi’s old rival) could come?

What we’ve always wanted for both of them. 🙂 Beautifully worded story.
