For those of you who are fans of the fuzz, and how could you not be, here is lovely Maia and her happy flaps.
While she is just lovely, we can also bring a little education to the post as well. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, enabling you to see more of the definition, you can see the veins on the frontside of her ears. She also has an old scar on her left ear, just above the halfway mark towards the outside that appears in the photo as a thickened or puffy area.
We use those veins for blood collection. Not from the frontside, but the back. Just like humans, the hotter it is, the more visible the veins become. On the backside of her ear, the veins are visible all throughout the center of her ear as well. But the ones you can see are the ones we would choose for blood draw. We save the ones closer to the interior for if they ever become sick and need an IV catheter, this way they remain untouched. Besides, even their little veins are big enough to use.
