Little evening update. Both Mara and Rana followed down Middle Road tonight and had dinner just past the pond. First, they had a dusting party, then they alternated who was in the lead during the rest of their walk. Mara was all good with being first, but Rana would stop and Mara would turn to make sure all was well. And then Rana would take the lead.
Mara was wide-eyed as she walked past the pond and seemed taken aback by the amount of pasture that she was surrounded by out there. She quickly ate her dinner, skipped the hay, and immediately began grazing. This will be Mara’s first night that far from the barn, but she will be just fine. ❤️

May 23, 2020 at 3:34 amJust love the updates and the beautiful progress Mara is making, with Maia already introducing herself and Lady edging a little closer each day. Please take great care of yourselves and your crew (and eles, dogs, cats, rooster, tapir etc etc). Have just heard that Brazil is now the epicenter of Covid19. You are all too precious to to risk this horrific virus in any form. Keep safe! For as long as it takes!!!

May 23, 2020 at 3:49 pmWe try. We don’t really leave the sanctuary, only a few deliveries come in, and our staff wears masks and has a pretty strict hand washing/sanitizing protocol. 🙂
