One of the biggest lessons we have learned from elephants is to try to be present, live in the here and now. This is almost always easier said than done, especially with the never ending to-do list at the sanctuary. But it is one of the most impressive qualities elephants have and a big part of the reason they are able to forgive, move on, heal and grow.
Now while we are far from being as grounded as they are, every once and a while we do try to take a moment and just be. Watching the elephants eat as the sun goes down, being thankful for all that has already come to be and appreciative of everything surrounding us. This is all a journey, and as with the elephants, it will have its ups and downs, but it’s all part of something very beautiful.
