Lady’s Health Update for the Week

Today’s update on Lady’s health is a baby step in the right direction. Although Lady is not back to her normal, and swelling is still present, there was a little shift in her physically and emotionally yesterday afternoon.

She’s been staying in the yards near the barn and getting treatments and foot soaks. For the most part, she’s chosen to stay relatively close to the barn, particularly in Yards 1 and 3. Yard 3 has good grazing, which Lady always seeks out, and Yard 1 has the mud wallow she can use for play or to soothe her feet, and several dirt piles that are excellent for leaning on and dusting. That’s what you can see in this video: Lady is having a wonderful time covering herself in dirt. However, last night, Lady moved into Yard 5 for a walk on her own; this morning caregivers saw that she was grazing in the back of Yard 5 on the barn side of the creek – which is positive, since that means she was feeling good enough to walk from the barn across a larger space to find a favorite spot in Yard 5.

It has been taking her a while to get going and find any of her spunk in the mornings, perhaps because, as far as we are able to tell, we hadn’t been seeing signs that  she’s lying down to sleep. However, caregiver and veterinarian Mateus saw signs that Lady had made a little nest to sleep in last night, which is a sign that she is perhaps becoming more comfortable with the idea of getting up from a prone position. Because this is all new to her, we were hoping that after some time she would feel more comfortable with lying down; but as with all things, she is working through it on her own time.

At the moment, Lady is moving okay – just slower than she normally would. She’s always had a stiff front left leg and her right leg doesn’t seem to be swollen at this point, and she was bending it this morning when coming to the fence for breakfast. But where the soreness used to come and go, it’s more steady now. We continue to work toward a solution that might ease her discomfort to an extent, but right now, we will take her venturing into Yard 5 and lying down to rest as a win.

Well, this his progress!!! Thanks again for keeping us in the loop. My Othopedic Chiropractor has a soft wave machine. It is a machine that has a wand. He uses it for many issues. Apparently the waves create stem cells which help the damaged area to heal. Have you heard of it? Just another of the box thought.

Every little bit is good! Laying down must bring some relief, glad she is feeling comfortable enough to do that now. Walking to the back of yard 5 is also a good sign. So glad she is feeling somewhat better! Good vibes sent for continued positive improvement. Love our sweet Ladybug!
