Lady likes mud. Actually, that might be an understatement. Lady loves mud. After lunch one afternoon, she was near the barn after receiving her foot treatments. She wandered over to the nearby mud wallow and appeared to be somewhat disappointed by the fact that, due to some rain we’d received, the wallow was too full of fresh water to provide her with the quality thickness of mud she so clearly wanted to play in.
The best solution for this scenario was to splash her trunk into the water, mixing the dirt in to create a better consistency of mud that met her standards. Once everything was right, she then began to spray herself with her new “formula.” Lady definitely knows what she wants and how to get the job done when it comes to getting good and dirty.

October 14, 2023 at 6:22 pmHow are Lady’s feet at the moment? She’s always been my favorite even though ALL the girls are extremely wonderful and lovely! 🥰

October 15, 2023 at 2:24 pmthey aren’t great, although they never are. she had some swelling in her left foot earlier in the week, but it has mostly resolved. the reality is, we are slowing the degradation, but each year they are worse than the year before. her pain is managed and she has quiet times where nothing ‘exciting’ is going on with her feet, but they’ll never be really good sadly.

October 15, 2023 at 1:25 pmLady’s feet still look mighty swollen…albeit better. Is she able to move around more now that she gets regular foot treatments or does her foot condition limit her ability to explore?
Kat Blais says
October 15, 2023 at 2:26 pmher left was a little swollen, but has now reduced. what you may be seeing is the general shift in the integrity of her feet where they look a little ‘puffy’ because of compression and her feet not being quite as tall.
