For this week’s final entry of the series on how to identify each elephant, we’re going to talk about Rana, the lovely elephant with beautiful smooth skin and small, dark brown eyes.
When you hear soft rumbles in any of our videos, there’s a good chance that Rana is the one vocalizing. Like Lady and Guillermina, she has hair on her long tail. Anyone who has watched her on video has likely noticed that she swings her front left leg out when she walks. This is a result of a fused elbow, which we were told happened to her when she was 5 years old. She gets around just fine, but we’re always checking in with our oldest girl to make sure she’s getting the best joint care possible.
This information (along with the post we published last year) should help make you a pro when picking Rana out of the herd.
For refreshers, check back on the posts describing the other girls’ traits: Bambi, Lady, Guille, Maia, and Mara.
