We were looking on the camera for elephants this afternoon, and the first thing that struck us was how fantastically green everything is already. Just a few rain storms and all of the land is so much more alive. The second thing, and it’s something we have always loved, is how hard it can be to find elephants when they have vast dynamic space.
Maia and Guida taught us how to hone those skills in areas with dense foliage. It’s all about looking for movement that is against the grain, a different density, a color out of place. There are areas like the ponds and pastures where it’s easy, but our girls are usually tucked away somewhere during the day.
And since we would be amazed if no one asked, we would love to have the cameras live at some point in the future. Right now, we don’t have anywhere near the internet infrastructure that we would need to make that happen. And funding needs to go towards expansion so we can bring Kenya home as well.

October 10, 2019 at 3:10 amHow amazing is that! So green and lush. It’s amazing the area is big enough for them to get lost in. Ramba’s going to love it as well.
