Our gift to you, our supporters, on Valentine’s Day: A morning walk with Mara – off to graze near her herdmate Bambi. This video shows the simplicity of sanctuary life and the priceless, enriching emotional value of sharing your life with others, while also offering an up-close moment with Bambi as she approaches Scott. One of the reasons we are able to capture images and videos like this one is our sanctuary mode of transportation: the 4-wheeler.
The 4-wheeler is a lifeline here at the sanctuary. It’s how we distribute the elephants’ daily meals and what enables us to perform treatments with the elephants without needing to ask them to return to the barn; they’re what we use to keep the habitats clean; they allow us to check in with the elephants and locate them within the vast, lush landscape. They play a significant role in allowing the elephants to spend their time wandering and being elephants, without having to adjust their day with each human interaction. With a broad expanse of land to cover and six elephants to keep track of, they are in near-constant use by caregivers and members of our team.
Since it is Valentine’s Day, we asked everyone at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil what they thought the best gift would be and, knowing all of this, the answer might not be a surprise. The 4-wheelers at ESB are well loved and much used – and to ensure everyone’s safety – they have a limited lifespan. So today we are beginning a fundraiser that will help make sanctuary life a little easier for the humans and a little richer for the elephants. Your gift can help us meet our goal of $10,820 to purchase a new 4-wheeler.
As a special and loving thank you for your support, with your donation you will receive six printable GSE Valentine’s Day cards – one depicting each elephant – to share with your loved ones, friends, or family! Donate in honor of your valentine and spread the love: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/vald2
