Each November, we are given the opportunity to look back on the year and find gratitude in the steps that have been taken, both small and large. Our victories of all sizes have taught us as much as our setbacks – perhaps more. At the end of the day, we’re thankful for the beauty we’ve been privileged to witness and recognize how truly lucky we are every day.
Though we acknowledge the significant loss we recently faced with the passing of our much-loved Pocha, we also recognize the beauty that her life offered to each of us who knew her or admired her from afar. Every day brings with it challenges and rays of sunlight. We saw Pocha embrace both of those things in a way she likely never imagined. She taught us much about how to be better people and the importance of seeking joy in every small victory.
We look to the other elephants at sanctuary – and to those yet to come – and see the hope of a promising life ahead. There is no greater gift than waking up to a new day, facing what lies in front of you, and taking the lessons learned forward, even in the most formidable of times. We are grateful for every elephant who has crossed our path over the years. And we are grateful for you.
You are our support system when we are in need of lifting up. You are the reason that each elephant at sanctuary has had the opportunity to take their first steps out of their transport crates and onto natural ground. We believe that there is no greater and more loyal group of followers than you – those who have embraced Global Sanctuary for Elephants and hold us in your hearts throughout the year – our sanctuary family.
For this, and for so much more, we wish you happiness this Thanksgiving. May you find that tomorrow and the next day and the next all bring you rays of sunshine that are brighter than your challenges. We encourage you to celebrate your own victories of all sizes and hope to have you by our side for many more years to come.
