One year ago today, Lady joined our herd and became the fourth rescue elephant to call Elephant Sanctuary Brazil home. When she walked out of the transport crate a year ago, she had no idea what to expect. It’s safe to say that she wasn’t expecting to be able to call acres of pastures, trees, ponds, mud wallows, and creeks home.
She has settled in and seems to realize this is her forever home. While she continues to keep some distance from the other elephants, she loves her parties of one in the ponds, in “her” bushes, and anywhere else the mood strikes her. She loves watermelon, cranberries, cabbage, and pumpkin.
She regularly seems to push her boundaries and comfort zones, which has helped her grow incredibly in the past year. She has stolen our hearts with her hairline, independence, love of wandering, and incredible bravery. We can’t wait to see how she continues to grow and evolve in the years to come.
Happy Re-Birthday, Lady! ❤️
