Guillermina and Baby Watch Each Other

The west side of Yard 5, before the creek, of the Female Asian Habitat faces the east side of the Male Asian Habitat’s Yard 1, and if the elephants position themselves in those respective spots, the girls in the female yards have a clear view of Baby in the male yard, and vice versa. In fact, we noted before that we believe Baby is spending a good bit of time in that area, since we’ve found significant amounts of poop in the general vicinity on certain days.

After breakfast, Baby was situated in that familiar spot, across the corridor from the female habitat, and caregivers opened the gate into Yard 5 to see if Guillermina, Maia, and Bambi wanted to walk over and have a look at their new elephant neighbor. Guille walked right over to see Baby and the two were looking at each other for a few moments. After a couple of minutes, Baby turned around and headed deeper into her habitat, perhaps just as curious about her new home as she is about her new potential companions.

Aww…Baby probably: ‘I’ll be there soon!’ Guille probably: ‘I can’t wait!’ The two younger ones eyeing each other is 💗. I wonder if they’ll form a close sisterhood🥰

Hi Laura. As soon as we get her test results back and she’s clear, we’ll be able to begin her introductions to the others. We don’t have a definitive timeline just yet.
