Maia and Bambi have been going across the creek and into the back side of Yard 5 again lately. We’ve seen Guillermina hanging out very near the pathway to the creek, which is an interesting development–but she still doesn’t seem ready to make the trip over. During one of Bambi and Maia’s recent visits, Guillermina opted to head toward the pond instead. 

During dry season, we have to fill the ponds more often than during the rainy season, when they tend to fill themselves. This means that water is often pumped into the pond from a plumbed pipe. (It’s encased in a little steel and cement cage so the girls can’t break it or hurt themselves–don’t worry.) Guille knows just where the water emerges and it comes out cool and bubbling, which makes it an appealing feature. Here, she was playing in the water stream and taking some small drinks. After a few minutes, she walked to the other side and sprayed herself with a few trunkfuls of mud before wandering back into the shade of the trees.
