Giving Tuesday – Let’s Have Some Fun!

Recently we gave you a bit of an explanation of exactly what Giving Tuesday is and we are now announcing our campaign to build a much-needed expansion to the female African habitat. The expansion will include 2,300 meters of the special fencing required for African elephants, 2 new yards, and an additional 70 acres of space. We are lucky enough to have a couple of donors who have offered to start us off with a match. We’ll provide more details closer to the actual date.

This is a big day for fundraising, so we wanted to make this effort fun for everyone – all of you, all of us at GSE, and all of the elephants in Brazil. Each elephant has a “team,” and each person who donates must pick a team: Team Bambi, Team Lady, Team Maia, Team Mara, or Team Rana. Every elephant has their own GSE employee team leader, who will be there to cheer their elephant on and answer any questions you might have along the way.

And if you want (not mandatory) this is where those who want to set up their own fundraiser can get in on the fun. You will be able to create your own campaign as an official member of the team you choose. After that, feel free to share your individual page with your friends and family however you want: emails, social media, over a cup of tea. Your individual page will also allow you to set up a Facebook fundraiser, if you’d like to do that as well. All of the funds raised will be reflected on your team’s goal thermometer, so you can see our totals rise. We will be sharing more detailed information on how to set up your own page soon.

At the end of the fundraiser, the elephant whose team raised the most money will get a special Facebook live broadcast, which we will share across all of our other platforms, too. (That means our blog, Instagram, and Twitter.) So, get ready, pick your favorite elephant, the one you first followed at ESB, the one you feel the greatest connection with, or whomever you want.

No matter which team you choose, the real winners will be Kuky, Pupy, and Kenya, and hopefully any other African elephants to come. You are these elephants’ biggest cheerleaders and nothing we do would happen without you.

Look for more information in the coming days!

Oh boy, I’m ready. What a great idea! I already know who’s team I’ll be on & I hope to help make her the winner, money wise that is, as they are all winners because they are already at GSB.

So, if I donate 5 times, can I pick a different team each time? I love all the girls so much, I don’t want to show favoritism!

I love all the girls…including Ramba and Guida..,but I have always rooted for the spirited underdog, so I will be Team Lady all the way!
Your idea sounds great! (I don’t use social media so I will just have to look forward to the final video ). But I wish all the teams the best of luck!
