Today we’re celebrating the very special Lady on her 3rd re-birthday here at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. It’s also Giving Tuesday, a day that focuses on generosity as part of a week’s celebration of thankfulness. In honor of Lady, we’ve decided to dedicate our Giving Tuesday efforts toward Lady and her unique set of needs. You have an opportunity to join millions of people across the globe in supporting causes you truly care about – like Global Sanctuary for Elephants. And, today only, gifts to GSE will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000. That will allow us to make big strides in helping Lady’s feet.

Every journey begins with a single step, and Lady needs our help to put her “best foot forward.” Though she is a brave elephant, there is no doubting that she experiences discomfort, which we do our best to ease. Foot soaks, special supplements, essential oils, topical treatments, and daily medicines are just parts of her regimen for better health. Though we can never heal her osteomyelitis – a degenerative bone disease – we spare no expense in doing what we can to mitigate her illness. We wouldn’t have it any other way, and we know that you feel the same. 

For this year’s fundraiser, we are aiming to raise enough money to cover her therapeutic care for the entire 2023 year. Each elephant’s annual care is approximately $48,000 but, due to Lady’s specialized medical costs, she requires an additional $50,000 each year. That’s about $98,000 total, though every penny is worth it.
