Lady recently came back to the yards close to the barn for a few days. She was getting her foot soaks and began to show some interest in going into Yard 4. At the same time, all of the other girls were in Yard 5 with access to 4, so we decided it would be a good moment to close the others in Yard 5 and let Lady explore this old familiar space for a little while. 

Meanwhile, in Yard 5, the pond was fantastically full because we’d gotten plenty of rain. All of the elephants were content in their spot. Because Guillermina seems to prefer Yard 4, everyone was watching her to see if she displayed any signs that she was not settled in 5. However, one of the great benefits of having the yards set up in the manner they’re configured would allow us to bring Guille into the smaller three yards if she looked like she needed a little something more. However, it’s good for her to push her boundaries a little bit – which she’s been doing and is getting better at all of the time.
