From Nicole: A Game of Hide and Seek

We once again have visiting caregiver Nicole here at the sanctuary. She relates here a story of driving on the 4-wheeler, trying to put eyes on all of the elephants, and finding a certain someone in the trees, perhaps being a little cheeky with her.

I caught a glimpse of a gray body in the trees. I turned around to check who it was and realized it was Bambi. Instead of coming straight out, she seemed like she was playing a game of hide-and-seek. She would take a step, wait a minute, then take one more step and pause and stand perfectly still. Finally, I laughed and said ‘You know I can see you right?’, after which she started walking through the woods at a more steady pace. I chose to leave the area instead of encouraging her to come all the way to the fence, but it was a cute moment, as if she was thinking ‘Maybe if I stay perfectly still she won’t see me here.’

How Bambi has grown and is giving so much back after all her difficult years. Elephants really are the Mothers of Kindness.
