Five Girls Together

What you see in this photo – five elephants spending time together – is happening now more than it has before. (From L to R: Guillermina, Maia, Mara, Bambi, and Rana) The girls often hang out at different times in different configurations, but seeing these five collected in one group hasn’t been the norm, particularly since the integration of Guillermina changed up the dynamics of the group. 

We’ve found that the energy of the elephants seems most even when Guillermina is with a larger group, since it’s a good way to spread out her exuberance among several individuals. It’s also encouraging to see that Maia is finding her place in the group after previous months of struggling with her confidence with being part of the circle of Rana, Mara, and Bambi. Moments like this are indicators that there is an understanding growing amongst the sanctuary herd.

    A VERY BEAUTIFUL PHOTO. WISHING LIL LADY WAS IN THERE ALSO!!! HOPEFULLY SOON ID LOVE LADY TO BE WITH LADIES. SO MUCH. ITS MY DREAM TO SEE HER IN THE HERD!!! SHE BELONGS IN HERD. NONE IF KADIES WOULD HURT HER. THEY KNOW LADY IS DELICATE💗. 🐘💝
